Aalto University in Espoo, Finland has completed the installation of a Planar Venue Pro VX Series LED wall at the Saastamoinen Foundation Stage, located within its new 5,000 square metre Marsio media facility.
The Marsio building opened in autumn 2024 and houses multiple studios and spaces for various applications. The Saastamoinen Foundation Stage serves primarily as a venue for open public university events.
The installation, which formed part of a comprehensive audiovisual technology project, commenced in early 2022 with pre-planning phases, followed by public tendering in spring 2023. Following budget adjustments, Leyard entered the project in autumn 2023 with a proof-of-concept test. The LED wall installation, carried out by integrator Electro Waves Oy, began at the end of May 2024 and was completed in mid-June 2024. The overall AV technical project reached completion in spring 2025. The installation features a 16×9 configuration of Planar Venue Pro VX Series 1.9mm pixel pitch displays, creating a 4K video wall measuring 6m wide x 4.5m high. The Saastamoinen Foundation Stage provides 285 square metres of open, flat-floor event space equipped with state-of-the-art event technology. Beyond the LED wall, the facility features high-quality stage lighting adaptable to different lighting conditions, distributed speakers for excellent sound level control throughout the space, and five high-quality robotic cameras that provide varied angles for live streaming.
